tomorrow, tomorrow, I don't really love ya

So I have my 12 mile run tomorrow, I work at 9 am, and it will take me over 2 hours to run, even though it shouldn't. So, if I am doing the math right, I need to be at the trail before 6. I wish I was tired. Anyway, I thought I would post my stats from this mornings run - just short of 5 miles on the Santa Fe Trail. It was a good run, great weather, and the best part...before work! It is actually starting to feel like I am getting into shape :) Anyway, my GPS worked the whole time so here it is: 4.87 miles, 52:53.6, Avg speed 5.5 mph, max speed 9.5 mph - which seems wierd. Anyway I need to start getting ready for bed! When I run for over 2 hours aren't you supposed to eat? I think I will take some of the block shots and maybe some cytomax.

SPANDEX!!

So by far the most comfortable thing for me to run is...are my new spandex short pants. Well I guess they aren't so new, I got them for the Bolder Boulder in May. Running shorts aren't that bad, really I just wear them to avoid really really bad tan lines! Do you think I can pull off short spandex shorts? Probably not yet...maybe not ever! Sometimes clothes make a big difference. I think the if you like your work out clothes, it makes it easier to work out, and if you are going through a slump and don't have the will power to work out as much and you should...just get a new outfit :) That doesn't make me sound superficial does it?

I did run this morning. Today was the hills run. I ran 5.61 miles in 1:02:53. Average speed 5.4 mph, max speed 11.8 mph. My GPS app actually worked! Not as fast as I should be. But it is "training".

My favorite running buddy...

Sorry Keith, but this little guy is my best running buddy. Reihle, our yellow lab, is always excited to go, happily wags his tail the whole time and never leaves me in the dust when I'm running a little bit slow. At 10 years old, (70 years old in "people years") he's still a pretty impressive runner. The long training runs will be too much for him, but he's always up for 3.5 miles at the reservoir - our favorite place to run - which we did this morning. It felt good.

I haven't run once this week.

Dear Sister,
I have a confession. I've been a complete bum this week. It's almost friday and I haven't run once. Not even a block. I've also eaten pizza for 2 meals this week and have devoured various other unhealthy snacks to keep me going at work. I blame it on the layoffs at work (and now having 2 people to do the work that 6 people used to do)... trying to get ready to move into our new house... endless stressing over paint colors, packing, and coordinating various deliveries (mattress and fridge)... and Keith being out of town (however I don't think that last one really has anything to do with me not running, but it sounds good).
Tomorrow morning I have plans to run before I start my day of packing and preparing for a quick weekend trip to Buffalo. So now that I've told you I'm going to go I'll be more motivated to actually go. I hope.
Next week will be better, but I think you will probably beat me in NYC.
Don't worry. I still love you.
xo, B

bloggin instead of runnin

So, if you must know, I had a hard, long, tiring day at Ford Motor Credit and really didn't feel like working out, and since I had this blog looming on my mind, I decided to put this together instead of running. As this blog will hopefully be a good tool to further my/our training, it seemed like an ok decision. Probably not a great decision though, as I lounge here on my Grandma's red chair I practically stole from her, reflecting on my day of sitting in a chair at work for 8 hours and then sitting on my couch for another 4 - I am not a fast blogger and it took me at least 2 to figure a new blog out-. However, I will give you a snapshot of my first week of training - last week. 4 miles on Monday, 3 hilly miles on Tuesday, 14 miles mountain biking on Friday, 7 miles on Saturday. See, not a total slacker!

First of Many

The purpose of the blog is to get me through the next 3 months, but more than just survive...I want to thrive, eh...little rhyme. Anyway, I like to do anything that makes me compete, so here I go along with my sister Brooke. November 1st will come sooner than we want, but hopefully not before we are ready!!!
